Trumbull 911 MySpace by Peggy Sinkovich

Dispatchers working the midnight turn at the Trumbull County 9-1-1 Center tell me that about a year ago, they were thinking of a way they could let the public know what they do on a daily basis ...And Dispatchers GladIs James and Jim Richmond came up with this idea...creating a myspace account.

"There are a lot of police and fire departments that have MySpace pages and I think it would be beneficial for them and the community because it is a public access page and they can see all the updates and things going on in the county," James said.

The page is used as a tool for missing person cases, it features silver alerts for the elderly as well as amber alerts. Those who sign up as friends can receive bulletins on their computer whenever something new is added on the page.

The site also contains a blog, which shows the activity the center handled the previous day.

"I put on the calls we handled overnight so the public can know what is going on in the county," Richmond said.

The website also features the badges of the local police and fire departments, as well as part of a video that is being created to honor emergency personnel from the valley who have lost their lives.  Dispatcher Jeff Ford created the video to honor those who died protecting their community.

The site can be accessed by going to www.myspace.com/trumbullcounty911.
