The company has asked the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to allow them to increase their base rates, from five dollars and seventy cents to seventeen dollars and fifty cents, while lowering their volume rate for delivery, which is based on how much natural gas you use.
The Public Utilities Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday at Youngstown City Hall, to get the publics input on the proposed changes. The Ohio Consumers' Counsel says this is not a good deal for customers, "A full room will show, that the Mahoning Valley does care about their gas rates. They don't want higher rates from Dominion. And this has to do with the delivery of gas into their homes. This is aside from the price of the gas itself. Which we know is going up and up and up."
The meeting is at two o'clock Monday afternoon in Youngstown City Council Chambers. Dominion says this is the first time they have asked to raise the base rate in thirteen years.
