No official announcement yet, but union officials say company directors told them Tuesday there is a possibility of closing. Still, they're examining all options to keep the plant open. High gas prices and a slow down in SUV and truck sales at GM are to being blamed for the current situation.
"With those drastic cuts in those sales, it's having a big impact here at Delphi because we rely on them for seventy percent of our business", explains Mike O'Donnell, with IUE 717.
O'Donnell says if the Cortland plant does shut down, the hundred workers there would not lose their jobs. They'd just be transferred to other area facilities.
