Possible Levy by Mandy Hackman

Trustees and the business committee talked about a proposal for the township that could include another levy after one failed last November.

Officials have all agreed the community needs the extra revenue.

Layoffs earlier in the year forced both police and fire departments to be short-staffed.  In fact, new figures show it now takes the fire department about a minute and a half longer on average to respond to fire calls.

But now with the possibility of another levy, voters may have the chance to bring back services.

"When the public sees what we intend to do with this money and only ask for as much money as we need to restore these services, realizing it can't be done overnight, I think they'll be more apt to support it because it's their community, and they're gonna tell us what they want to see," Trustee Robyn Gallitto said.

Trustees have until late August to figure out if they want the levy on the November ballot.
