Nicole Boyd Sentenced by Gerry Ricciutti

Twenty-five year old Nicole Boyd left Federal Court with her family Wednesday afternoon in Akron, having just been sentenced to five years in prison for her role in the theft of nearly seven and a half million dollars from a Liberty armored-car company last November.  Her lawyer says that the judge agreed to less time behind bars than what prosecutors were after.

Boyd, her boyfriend Roger Dillon and his mother Sharon Gregory all plead guilty earlier this year in the scheme -- where they plotted to steal cash and checks from "AT Systems," where Dillon worked as a driver.  Prosecutors say the trio targeted the business the Monday after Thanksgiving when receipts would have been greater than usual because of holiday shopping.  They were caught about a week later staying in a mobile home in West Virginia where they'd gone to hide.  Although she said nothing as she left..she admitted in court she still loved Dillon, whom she had left her husband and young son for, but needed to turn her life around now.  Boyd's lawyer tells us she's sorry for what happened.

Atty. Kirk Migdal also told the judge how Boyd discovered some close to two thousand dollars of the stolen loot in her home in Boardman after being released on bond -- and promptly called her lawyer to the cash over to the FBI.

Boyd was allowed to leave court and self-report to prison at some later date.

As for Dillon, who prosecutors say was the real mastermind of this caper, and his mother, who helped drive the stolen loot out of state -- their sentencing will be on Thursday.
