Crestview school officials are saying very little about an investigation of a long time language arts teacher.
Schools Superintendent John Dilling would not say exactly why teacher Shari Clark is being investigated or what his investigation found. But, he did tell say he is recommending the school board fire Clark.
Neither Clark nor her attorney could be reached to discuss the allegations. School officials say they are not sure if Clark, who worked at the district for more than twelve years, will be at the meeting Monday.
"I really don't know, I just know the board will be considering my recommendation and based on that they will make a decision on whether or not to terminate the contract or not," Dilling said.
Dilling did tell me the reasons why he believes the teacher should be fired will be made public at next week's meeting. The alleged misconduct did happen on school property and Dilling said as soon as he found out about it he began an investigation.
Several of the board members say they are concerned about the allegation. Board member Dan Simmons says he plans to go along with the superintendent's recommendation during next week's meeting.
Dilling says he did notify the Ohio Department of Education about the alleged misconduct. He said school districts are required by law to report misconduct once the board begins termination proceedings against a teacher.
However, the superintendent says he does not believe the alleged misconduct was criminal. The Columbiana Sheriff's Department said they are not investigating and have not been asked to investigate.
