Lordstown Tax Rebate

Lordstown is now the third community in Trumbull County that's welcoming new employees to the General Motors Plant with open arms as well as open wallets.

Five-hundred dollar income tax incentives are already being offered by Warren and Niles, but the Lordstown plan is a little different. They are offering five-hundred dollars as well, but not limiting to GM transfers like other communities are.  Their deal is open to anyone that works in or is a new hire in the village, and buy a home there,  as long as they currently live outside of Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

Lordstown Mayor Michael Chaffee tells us it's similar to other plans, but better fits Lordstown's needs.  "We expanded it a little bit.  We extened it a little bit. But I think it stays in the spirit of what Niles and Warren are trying to do.  We're just trying to give people who work in the village, and people who live in the Village or move to the Village, a little added incentive to come."

The mayor and village council feel their could be spin-off business from the GM expansion in production.  Because of that, they don't want to exclude anyone from being eligible to receive the tax rebate.
