Mesopotamia, Ohio is a place where the old world meets new. Amish country and it's now home to what's believed to be the largest wooden horse and buggy in the world.
Behold, standing at thirteen and a half feet tall, this horse started out as a way for a local artist to get into art school. He spent five months completing the sculpture and he did make it into the Cleveland Institute of Art, but that was only the beginning.
"People thought I was crazy, so, but they don't think I'm crazy now.", states Chris McConnell, local artist.
Not at all. In fact, when the owners of this general store heard about the giant horse, they knew it was just what they needed to attract more business.
"So, we bought it from Chris, and we said,`Can you build a buggy to go with it?' Chris said, `I think I can so we hired him to build the buggy to go along with the horse'", explains Scott Schaden, End of the Commons General Store.
With the help of a thirteen year old Amish boy, the fourteen and a half foot high sculpture was completed nine days later and now sits right across the street from the End of the Commons General Store .
The artist used about six thousand feet of 2x4's to create the horse and buggy.
