Fireworks Safety Tips

According to the Centers for Disease Control more than nine thousand people were injured in 2006 because of fireworks and eleven people were killed.

To keep your 4th of July festivities safe this year, here's a few tips.

Only use fireworks outdoors and keep fireworks away from young children.

Any child under sixteen should only use fireworks under adult supervision.

Bill Weimer with Phantom Fireworks says it's a matter of common sense, "Keep your audience a safe distance away.  Have a ready source of water available.  A connected hose is best.  Make sure the area around the fireworks in cleared from any dry debris.  And just use basic good common sense."

Also make sure to have a designated shooter.  Remember, alcohol and fireworks do not mix!
