A similar drill played out today in New Springfield, where amateur radio operators practiced what they need to do when called on during a natural disaster.  It's part of the Mahoning Valley Amateur Radio Association field day, and it'll continue for 24 hours nationwide.  The amateur radio or "HAM" is used to alert people of emergencies when all other forms of communication have been shut down.
