Campbell J.E.D.Z.

Wednesday night, Campbell City Council took the first step to see how a J.E.D.Z. might work there.

They approved a resolution that will allow Youngstown to fund a feasibility study to develop about eleven hundred acres of land along the Mahoning River.  They are calling it, "The Mahoning River Corridor of Opportunity".  If it becomes a reality, any new businesses coming into that area would have a two percent income tax imposed which would be split evenly among the three cities.

Campbell Mayor, Jack Dill, explains, "Youngstown came to us and asked if we would cooperate in a feasibility study that the city of Youngstown would pay one hundred percent to do the study.  And of course, we wouldn't be doing our jobs if we didn't at least look at the issues and see whats in the best interest of the city."

The study is expected to take about three to four months.  Campbell is not required to adopt the findings of the study.
