Governor Ed Rendell is pursuing the joint venture between a Spanish company and a subsidiary of Citibank to take over maintenance of the toll road for nearly thirteen billion dollars.
The Governor claims the deal would provide much needed money for road and bridge improvements, but Evans says more study is needed.
"We gotta go through, to make sure the numbers, the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed. And really look at it. But the key thing is to find investment in the roads, highways and bridges. Things that we need to do. That's very important.", says Evans.
Supporters of the privatization idea claim it would eliminate the need to put tolls on Interstate-80 as a way of increasing revenue.
State lawmakers will need to approve any deal.
