A nearly one hundred seventy year old cemetery in Campbell is getting a much needed face lift this weekend. The Pioneer Methodist Cemetery is home to the graves of dozens of Veterans, dating all the way back to the War of 1812. Today after months of planning... nearly 50 people picked up shovels and wheel barrels and began an overhaul of the site. When finished the cemetery will have a new sign, and a memorial area complete with a replica cannon.
THIS IS ONE OF THE MAIN ENTRANCE'S TO THE CITY OF CAMPBELL, AND IT'S BEEN REALLY NEGLECTED FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. WHEN IT'S DONE IT WILL REALLY BE A SHOWCASE. I IMAGINE IT WILL TAKE ANOTHER COUPLE WEEKENDS TO COMPLETE IT, BUT IT WILL REALLY BE NICE."--Jack Dill Mayor of Campbell
The Pioneer Methodist Revitalization Project is taking donations at any Valley Huntington Bank Branch to help pay for the project and upkeep of the cemetery.
