Jeff Ondash -- better known as Teddy McHuggin' ---passed out a lot of love tonight at Boardman's Relay for Life ...If not love, at least a lot hugs ---12-Hundred and Five to be exact. That's enough to break the World record-- which was set at 765- And it's not really a big surprise he broke the record--- Boardman's Relay for Life is the THIRD largest in the State. but, even though a record was broken... Tonight means a lot more to Cancer survivors AND supports on the track.
One hour..that's all Jeff Ondash..otherwise known as Teddy McHuggin had to break the world record for hugs.
"WE'LL BRING THE RECORD FOR THE MOST HUGS RIGHT HERE TO THE MAHONING VALLEY. WE'RE GONNA SPREAD THE LOVE RIGHT HERE WHERE IT BELONGS IN BOARDMAN OHIO"--Teddy McHuggin
And at the state's third largest Relay For Life...this cancer survivor figured he could count on the people here to help break the record...Because cancer patients..like Jennifer Johnson...know the importance of support.
"THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR ME BECAUSE RIGHT NOW I'M STILL TAKING TREATMENT FOR BREAST CANCER SO IT MEANS THE WORLD TO ME TO SEE THE SUPPORT OF EVERYONE THAT'S HERE AND ALL THE EFFORT THEY'VE BEEN MADE"--Jennifer Johnson
More than 12-hundred people came out to tonight's Relay...walking for 24 hours to raise money and awareness for cancer. And this year they're not only walking for a cure...But they're also collecting research for a cancer free tomorrow
"IT'LL HELP FIND A CURE FOR CANCER..MAYBE THIS WILL BE HISTORY IN THE MAKING"--Annette Camacci
The American Cancer Society picked Boardman to be a site for a national cancer prevention study...enrolling hundreds to find out why some people get the disease.
"IT'S A LONG TERM STUDY..PEOPLE ARE COMMITTING 20-30 YEARS. EVERY TWO YEARS THEY'LL GET A SURVEY TO FILL OUT AND TELL THE CANCER SOCIETY WHAT'S GONE ON IN THEIR LIFE IN TWO YEARS"-Annette Camacci
As for Teddy McHuggin's life tonight....with 1205 hugs...he did in fact break the world record...showing their's a lot of love surrounding those affected by cancer.
