As the image fades of Marc Dann leaving the podium in Columbus yesterday afternoon, and walking away from his job as Attorney General, many here in the Valley hope the embarrassment will fade away too.
Some, fairly or otherwise, have compared Dann's problems to those of Jim Traficant -- who was not only forced out of Congress, but imprisoned as well -- Mahoning County Commissioner Anthony Traficanti worked for Traficant, and sees some parallels.
Youngstown's mayor admits the affair is another black eye for the area, made even worse by coverage the scandal received around the state.
On the wall across from the mayor's desk, a sign warning of "The Penalty of Leadership," which he looks at each day. Williams says Dann's problems are a reminder that those in public office need to be cautious in what they do -- especially those who take on jobs as administrators.
