Julio McLaughlin was hoping to spend the summer with his fiance, Helen Mrosko.The two were planning a wedding. He just won a battle with cancer-- and the time felt right. But timing--- is what ultimately killed Mrosko... As she walked down the sidewalk on South Avenue in Youngstown. She had no idea what was about to happen. No idea her life was about to end..Julio McLaughlin was just starting to make wedding arraignments--- now he's planning a funeral.

"WE WERE GOING TO GET MARRIED AND HAVE A BIG BASH. AND I 'M SURE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EXACTLY THAT. BUT WE'RE NOT GOING TO SEE THAT DAY."

That day now a fantasy--- Tuesday night his finance, 39-year-old Helen Mrosko was killed in a FREAK accident.Mrosko had just left Tennies Tavern-- on South Avenue -- where her fiance worked. Moments later, two cars collided head-on crashing into East Side Civics  pinning Mrosko against the wall and killing her.

"EVERYBODY'S OUT HERE . I SEE THIS BODY UNDER THE CAR. I'M DIRECTING TRAFFIC.. BLAH BLAH.. I SAID GET THIS BODY OUT FROM UNDER NEATH THE CAR... I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON."

No idea, his girlfriend of 16 years -- was passing by him on a stretcher. After linking Mrosko to McLaughlin--- the coroner investigator headed to Teenies Tavern --- to tell McLaughlin it was Mrosko that had been killed.

"WAS SHE THE ONE UNDER THAT CAR, WASN'T SHE...AND THEY SAID YEAH, AND IT WAS LIKE A FREEZE FRAME. BLONDE HAIR, RED SHIRT...BOOM. I'M LIKE OK.."

Now instead of walking down the isle... Julio is left with only the flowers here at this make-shift memorial where the love of his life- lost hers.

"YOU COULDN'T ASK FOR A MORE PLEASANT PERSON. AND I'M NOT SAYING THAT BECAUSE SHE'S MY WHOLE LIFE... YOU CAN ASK ANY PERSON AROUND HERE... TELL YOU THE SAME THING. WE ALL MISS HER. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE SUFFERING HERE."

Charges are still pending against the driver--- that caused the accident... 18-year-old Brandy Robinson.
