YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown announced the company 2Deep Entertainment will be the coordinator of downtown events and special projects.
2Deep will be paid $42,400 a year.
Several members of city council, including Lauren McNally, questioned if the hiring was legal.
"How come we didn't go through the formal bidding process if we're going to do a professional services contract?" she asked. "Are there any conflicts of interest between who he's choosing to work with for downtown and some of the events that company does downtown?"
Brown said the law department told him it was fine.
"The contract will spell out areas where there's any conflicts. They'll have to be disclosed or remove themselves from that during their time of tenure with me."
He said as far as bidding the contract, it's no different than the deal JAC has with running the Covelli Centre.
The professional services agreement with 2Deep Entertainment went into effect on Monday.
