Canfield crime activity: Man accused of stalking, sending threatening letter

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) - Friday, March 30

100 block of Fifth Ave., Edward Barnes, 37, of Youngstown, arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in Canfield Mayor's Court.

Sunday, April 1

200 block of Moreland Dr., report of a verbal dispute. Police said an investigation determined that there was no crime committed, so no charges were filed. 

Tuesday, April 3

Carriage Drive, James Driscoll, 59, of Austintown, arrested and charged with menacing by stalking after a report of threats. A man reported that he received a threatening letter in the mail saying his "days are numbered -- enjoy them now, cheater," along with a logo for the construction company where he is employed. The letter also contained a news article detailing a past investigation against him in 2012. Police said the man was also receiving threatening text messages saying the person would kill him and his family. Police said an investigation connected Driscoll to the threats. It was reported that Driscoll believed that the man was having an affair with his now ex-wife. 

Herbert Road, Ranee Fitzgerald, 19, of Austintown, arrested on a warrant.

Thursday, April 5

W. Main Street, Brytny Connors, 18, of Austintown, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop. Police said marijuana shake and torn baggies were found in the vehicle. Connors said she had friends in the vehicle who were smoking marijuana, but she denied smoking marijuana herself.
