Boardman crime activity: Boy said he wanted to kill father with saw, police say

Police investigated the following incidents in Boardman from May 10-15:

Thursday, May 10

12:56 p.m. - Sheban Drive and Shields Road, Charles Walter, 37, of Youngstown, charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop.

Friday, May 11

8:51 p.m. - 200 block of Boardman Canfield Rd., Phillip Bolender, 28, of Austintown, arrested and charged with open container, OVI and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said Bolender was passed out behind the wheel of a running car, which was in drive, in the parking lot behind the Boardman Plaza. Police said he appeared to be intoxicated and had two empty cans of Bud Ice in the vehicle. According to a police report, Bolender admitted to using heroin and drinking earlier.

8:58 p.m. - 100 block of Gertrude Ave., a 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with domestic violence, aggravated menacing and unruly juvenile after police said he was swinging a saw at his father. The boy was arrested in the parking lot of Cirelli Jewelers and when questioned about the incident, he told police he was going to kill his father with the saw. The boy left when he heard sirens, according to a police report.

Saturday, May 12

8:53 a.m. - 700 block of Maple Ave., reported burglary at Uhrain Greenhouse. Checks and cash were stolen.

Monday, May 14

1:10 a.m. - 100 block of Shields Rd., Jacob Adolphensen, 26, arrested and charged with inducing panic and using weapons while intoxicated. Police responded to the area on reports of arguing and gunfire. Police said Adolphensen was spotted coming out of a wooded area, where he told officers he threw his gun after shooting it into the air. Police found a gun and ammunition in a tote bag.

Tuesday, May 15

9:51 a.m. - 8100 block of Market St., Brian Taylor, 46, arrested on a warrant for a domestic violence charge. A woman told police that Taylor pushed her down on March 20, causing her to break her ankle. She didn't initially report the incident because she was afraid. The woman said Taylor had assaulted her other times since then and threatened to kill her.

6:45 p.m. - 5000 block of Forest Park Pl., Shane Vannest, 22, arrested on a warrant for an assault charge. Police said on May 9, people reported that Vannest threw rocks at them as they were helping a dog that had been hit by a car. A man said Vannest had driven through the yard and dangerously close to the group as they were trying to keep traffic away. He later began screaming and throwing rocks, according to a police report. A witness took a photo of the vehicle involved.
