Less than one day into the New Year and Youngstown police are already investigating the city's first homicide.

Officers were called to a home on Shady Run Road around 5 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of gunfire. When they got there, they found Randy Cappelli, 30, dead.

Cappelli suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the face and neck. His body was found next to a Toyota Scion that had been set on fire.

No word on any suspects at this time.

I worked with both Randy & Mama... I knew them well. I know there were several instances of threats being made towards Randy in the past, because of his relationship with her. It's something that should be looked into, regardless.

Seems odd to me that her car was there but there was no sign of her or anyone. I knew her wll enough to know she probably wouldn't have just let Randy take her car alone. Given thier history, has anyone made an attempt to find or talk to her? Seems to me that it would be an important piece of the puzzle. And Randy being found outside of the passenger side leads me to believe he wasn't alone.
