Nearly 40 jobs are on the chopping block in Austintown as a warehouse consolidates its manpower.

Superior Beverage announced this weekend that it will move its warehouse operations on Victoria Road to a new complex near Solon. Company officials said a new streamlined system of warehouse management will be put into place at the new facility and that will eliminate 37 jobs locally.

Company Vice President, Joe McHenry, said Superior Beverage has added more than 200 positions over the last five years and intends to keep some operations going here in the Valley.

"We will continue to have a presence in the Youngstown area and the presence will continue to be the sales people, merchandisers and drivers," McHenry added.

The cuts will take place by October. About 60 employees will remain at the Austintown location.

Superior Beverage Group is one of the largest distributors of beverages in the state with locations across northeast Ohio.

John Antonnuchi, Superior Bev. owner, is a union buster. Tried to go non-union in 1995, resulted in 3 mo. strike & product boycott. Make his $ here & spend it elsewhere. Comes as no surprise

What a damn shame, in less than 10 years from now, there won't be a Austintown, Ohio, a Youngstown, Ohio or a Warren, Ohio. We won't even be on the Map anymore, we're just totally fading away like all the jobs around here. Pretty sickening if I must say.
