The community of Salem joined together Sunday to help three kids left motherless after an unexpected death.

Nikke Jenkins, 26, of Salem, died last September while cutting the grass at her mother's house in Youngstown. The family said she wasn't sick and didn't have any health problems. Jenkins left behind her three children, ages 8, 7, and 1 year old.

Her family put together a benefit dinner to raise money for the kids. The event included a 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction and Super Bowl party.

"It's pretty important. It basically helps them. They weren't ready for this. No one was ready for this," said Lenny Jenkins, Nikke's brother.

Autopsy and toxicology results came back inconclusive. The family is awaiting further autopsy results on the cause of Nikke's death.
