On Monday night the parking lot at the Prince Hall Masonic Temple on Highland Avenue in Warren was filled with members and guests from Cleveland and Akron attending a meeting.

While the group was discussing ways to help the community, their cars were being vandalized.

"Cars in the parking lot were vandalized, and I had all this junk in my arms and then came out here and oh, boy," said Iliene Provitt.

Many of the cars were written on with sharp objects. Provitt said snow and gravel were also put in her gas tank.

The damage may look minor, but the price tag to fix it sure isn't.

"Oh yes, $1,735," said Larry Rodgers.

But the victims said the bright spot to the evening was the help they received from police. They said instead of rushing off, the officers stayed and figured out what happened.

The vandals left a key piece of evidence at the scene: a footprint. officers Gary Riggins and Dave Gallagher were able to track it and apprehend the vandals: A 12-year-old boy and his six-year-old brother.

The boys' parents were notified, and the matter will now be handled in juvenile court.

"We like to do our best and are happy that we were able to resolve it for them," Riggins said.

i think it is a sad thing for the people who got their cars damaged.the kids and the perents. i sit here and think of some of the stuff i did when i was a kid. i wouldnt be to proud of today. i had good perents, good school, and i was a good kid. if you ask me why i did the things i did back then like steal christmas lights or get into unlocked cars and take their change. lol not proud of it. but ask me why? i dont know. bored or just having fun? i dont know.i hope the paerents of the children will pay for the damages and the kids gets punished by their parent. they should have to write a note saying sorry. he should have to work around the temple to work off his debt. or until his parents pay for it. like i said... sad for all. but we all where kids one time. aslong as the mom and dad be mom and dad. im sure the kids will think twice about doing something like that again.

crazedgrannie...do you personally know this family? No! How dare you call anyone elses children brats. Bad or good no child deserves to be called names. Do you know if these kids have ever been in trouble before? No! Have you been to thier house to witness them sitting in front of the computer, tv, or WII all day? No! You do not know the parents or the kids. Maybe this is the first time these kids have ever been in trouble. Should the parents pay? Yes. Should the kids perform community service for the city? Absolutly. I think the kids even owe the car owners and the chirch an apology. But should the kids have to stand by while someone as ignorant as yourslef judges them and calls them names? No!! You are an adult so grow up and act like one.

As per usual the kids parents will pay. And well they should. Maybe if parents would deal with their brat offspring from a young age this sort of thing wouldnt happen. But that would mean putting the wii wiimote down, and also getting away frot the computers and TV's every now and again.

If the government would have stayed out of our business of spanking our children when they were young, these cars would not have been damaged. When my boys were small the school wanted them to tell on me if I spanked them. Well, I didn't coward down and quit teaching my boys the difference between right and wrong. I would reward them for doing good and spank them for doing bad. A good old-fashion spanking when they are young will teach them that there are subject to worse things when they grow up and do wrong. The Bible says,"Train up a child in the way that it should go and when the child gets older that training will never leave him. Also, the Bible also says, "A disobedient child will not live out half his days." I would rather spank my child while he is young than to let the goverment kill him when he gets grows up and do wrong. Parents, spank your children when they do wrong. Remember there is a differece between spanking and abruse. You raise your children, and don't let the system do it.
