What's received the most attention in Mahoning County this election season won't cost voters a penny more, but will make up the county's budget. The issue is a half-percent sales tax continuation. Elections Board Director Thomas McCabe and an elections worker were suspended this week over wording the sales tax. Commissioners meant ballot language to say "renewal." The language will say "additional.

Two other levies up for renewal include a Children Services 1-mill renewal levy and a 1-mill renewal levy to maintain the county's main library and its 15 branches.

On top of a list of several candidate races is for Youngstown mayor. Write-in candidates Calvin Hill Sr. and Cecil B. Monroe will challenge incumbent Jay Williams.
