Some 400 girls from across the state of Ohio are in Niles this weekend competing for a possible shot in the Olympics.

The gymnasts, who traveled from everywhere from Cincinnati to Toledo, are participating in the "Top 3-Level" of Junior Olympic Gymnastics. The two-day event is taking place at the Wellness Center in Niles.

Event coordinator, Dawn Toussaint, said she bid on the program and won because of the state-of-the-art wellness facility.

"In the summertime we had to put in a bid because this facility is so beautiful and because of the reputation of us running the meets, we are were able to get it. We actually hosted two state championships in this facility this year, so we were very fortunate," Toussaint said.

The winners of this weekend's competition will advance to the regional competition. Top competitors from that contest will go on to nationals.
