A local rock band has won a contest and will be opening for KISS Sunday at Blossom Music Center.
Love Turns Hate, a band of five seasoned musicians from the Youngstown area, learned last week that they were selected to be the opening act for this weekend's concert.
They will perform around 6:30 p.m. and are hoping many of their fans from the area will attend.
Love Turns Hate competed for the honor with other bands on an online contest.
"Out of 200 plus bands, we held strong and KISS picked the overall winner, and we won for the Cleveland Metro area," said the band's Jimmi Miggliozzi.
"Oh, it means a lot," said the band's Tony Young. "We have been working very hard, and hopefully it will help propel the release of our album, which will be coming out shortly."
If anyone from the area wants to attend, a bus will be leaving from Studio 11 Hair Salon on East Market Street around 4 p.m. Sunday. Organizers suggest purchasing a ticket for the bus ride in advance by stopping at the salon sometime this week.
