The fire chief in Milton Township, and his mother, are finding themselves in trouble.

Rick Pellin and his mother Vanessa have been indicted on forgery and theft charges.

Prosecutors tell us the Pellins and other family members used to operate the Pellin Ambulance service which fell into receivership back in 2006.

The charges allege both took paychecks meant for another family member, forged them, and then deposited the money in an account under Rick Pellin's name.

Both suspects are due in court later this month.

I feel they should have gotten jail time. The people that work for that company stood by them for a long time. And what did they get, they got a slap in the face. Vanessa and Ricky you should be ashamed of yourself. Not only did you screw our works but your family. sis

Thank you Sir, signing your real names was the ONLY issue I had with all this. Let the GUILTY hang for all I care!.. I'm not here to stop legitimate charges or complaints, just believe it should be handled aboveboard or without disguise. THANK YOU again Martin W. Shaffer Sr.

As a former employee I have to say....It's about flippin time! These people used and abused the people that worked for them for far too long. It's time they paid for the wrongs they have done for years. Way to go to whomever decided to turn them in.As for not signing names...that's for cowards.....Martin W. Shaffer Sr.

First off, before I take ANY of this seriously,.. I'd like to see who has the courage to put in print "WHO they are" after they plaster damaging and offensive information that could destroy peoples lives. Bogus names like.. "whatgoesaround", "shameshame", "stupidasso" and "xGOPinNEOhio" could rant and accuse anyone of absolutely anything! C'mon people who has the courage to sign their accusations? I'll sign my comment - Jeanne Stefancik (resident of Milton township)

I would like to say that as a resident of Milton Township it is obvious that some people that are posting comments are doing so for their own political gain and personal agenda. I do agree that the Pellins should be ashamed of the things that they done however, I feel it unjust to make everyone that was in contact with Rick Pellin to also be condemned. As far as Mr Maynard is concerned I feel it is totally inappropriate that he should be drug down because of Rick Pellins personal doings. If you happen to know this man-he is a hard working honest person. As far as The Milton Township Fire Department- the department nor its volunteers are accountable for one mans poor choices and lack of morals.

Kind of makes you wonder on the way things went down since 1999 when he was promoting the idea of Milton dumping CBVFD for his own vision of a public department that was only supposed to cost the residents 15K to 20K a year now taxing in 100,000 a year(not including the 50,000 dollars needed annually to pay for their new fire station for the next 20 years)on a non renewable levy, was he diverting funds from his company to start the department, or was he making charges against the Milton Fire Levy to fund his company? And since Township Trustee Harold Maynard is listed on their website as an Assistant Fire Chief up for re-election was he swayed on votes or covered up any public money involvement that Pellin was possibly involved in? I mean it's not like we have never had any corruption in Mahoning County politics before, righ?

He should be ashamed of himself. Obviously the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I feel bad for his kids and wife. He should do the right thing for once and step down as chief. It gives the whole community a bad name. I feel bad for the firefighters who risk their life-on a volunteer basis- and now they have to live in the shadow of this shameful man

Or how the man forcibly pushed to overrun the Craig Beach village volunteer fire department which has been around in strong standing for half a century. What a fine representative of Milton Township.

I wonder how his "highly trained" position at Trumbull County 911 will work out after this. If the man runs his own business into the ground, who's to say he doesn't ruin it for the entirety of Trumbull county. If curiosity really strikes you, consider looking into the thought of a grown man with two kids and a loving wife "interacting" with female minors.
