Every vote counts and that was certainly the case in Tuesday's primary election.  A very light voter turnout, with only 12% of registered voters casting ballots in the tri-county area, meant each vote was crucial.

In Mahoning County: No problems for Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams.  Williams, who is seeking his second term, won the democratic primary by easily defeating political consultant Frank Bellamy with some 88% of the vote.  Willams could run unopposed in the general election unless an independent or write-in candidate emerges.

In Columbiana County: Just one school issue on the ballot there.  Voters in Leetonia were asked to decide on an 8.8 mill continuing operating levy, and for the third time the issue went down by just 70 votes.

In Trumbull County: Several school issues on the ballot there and most of them failed.
