Eleven days ago Tuesday, along a stretch of Wilson Avenue on Youngstown's East Side, paraplegic Willie Daniel said the truck he was riding in slid off the road and hit a pole.

The driver went for help.

A passing tow truck driver called police saying Daniel asked him not to call police. The driver also said he thought Daniel had a gun in the vehicle, but according to reports no firearm was ever found.

The cops arrived and Daniel said what happened next was his worst nightmare.

"As he was coming up he said shut ... up," he said. "He slapped handcuffs on me, reached in the car and punched me in the mouth."

Daniel said Officer Robert Jolliff then ordered him out of the car.

"I told him I couldn't walk," Daniel said. "He snatched me and threw me down in front of the police cruiser on Wilson Avenue in the street, in the snow and my pants were down I was was in the snow in my pamper."

A few minutes later, Daniel's wife, Pam arrived.

"I seen him with his pants down, and I asked why he was in the street like that and the officer said because he told him that he had a gun," Pam Daniel said. "I said no way my husband told you that, he was paralyzed by a gun, he didn't tell you he had no gun."

Daniel, who said he wasn't driving, is facing charges of OVI and driving under suspension.

"We want to make a complete investigation, we don't want to rush to judgment and make an allegation and find out later to be wrong," said Youngstown police Chief Jimmy Hughes.

The department declined a public records request to release the internal report.

He doesn't deserve any respect you idiot. Once a thug, always a thug. I'm sure he had that punch coming.

Get a load of this scumbag's picture in the Vindicator; he looks like a crack head. I have no doubt this clown and his wife both belong in jail and think the cop should receive a commendation for only throwing his nasty a** in a snowbank. He should have banged this perp's old lady in the head too. - let's not forget that this clown was drunk, behind the wheel of a wrecked vehicle, had a suspended license, and was reported to be armed with a gun. Add the belligerent attitude of the drunk lowlife and it sounds like a bad situation for a policeman on Wilson Avenue.

Well, the police have dropped to a all time low this time, Why won't they release the pictures the camera took of the incident? Why would the police hit a man on the thin word of a tow truck driver, that he seen a gun? Why would this police offercer still be working even if this incident is under investigation? And, why would this victim lie about this incident? Remember, you can do nothing against the truth but for the truth. Someone is lying. If the police officer is at fault in beating a disabled black man, the officer needs to be dismissed; why did it take eleven days for this story to hit the news??? The police couldn't cover this one up?

Love the folks playing judge and jury here! Facts: Drunk, unlicensed, handicapped man crashes vehicle. Perpetrator accuses arresting officer of abuse. End of facts. How do you jump to the conclusion that the cop is the bad guy here? What creedence does a drunken criminal have? In my experience, guilty people tend to make every attempt to thwart their wrong actions onto someone else. The officer may be guilty too, but let the investigation bear it out.

No repsect for a "drunk" paralyzed black man "driving under a suspended license" who "caused an accident" and "we don't know how he acted towards the Youngstown police officer."

This guy sounds like bullsh*t to me. I don't know any cops that needlessly throw people around without cause or provocation; they simply don't need the grief. More lowlife scum?
