The weekend's snowstorm may have led to the death of at least one in the Valley.

Boardman police and K9 dogs found the body of 63-year-old George Harris in the backyard of his Woodview Avenue home Monday morning.

Harris was last heard from Friday night as he was heading out to shovel his driveway. A missing persons report was filed after he didn't show up to play the organ at his church Sunday.

Monday, search crews and specially-trained cadaver dogs were called to his home and found his body completely covered in snow.

Police believe he may have had a heart attack and collapsed while shoveling.

"All we know is that there was a snow shovel right next to him. He was covered completely with snow," said Boardman Sgt. Brian Habeger. "He wasn't visible at all without having the rescue teams locate him."

Neighbor Phyllis Schiavone said Harris didn't seem to have health problems.

"He had back problems, but I never would have thought a heart condition," she said. "The last storm we had in January, he was out doing his driveway."

The Mahoning County Coroner's Office is completing an autopsy to determine an exact cause of death.

This should be a wake-up call to all: watch out for your neighbors! Not only do we need to help and have concern to reduce crime, but , as in this instance, to maybe prevent a tragic death. We all need to help and assist our elder neighbors.

Very sad story! Those with snow blowers need to be less selfish and help out their neighbors, especially if they are elderly (not that 63 is old), etc.

What an awful tragedy, it's sad that no one was able to help him. My prayers go out to his family & friends. Let this be a warning that we all need to take extreme precaution when it comes to shuffling snow. Do a little bit, then go in your house to warm up & rest. The snow won't go anywhere that quickly, but we might... if we're not careful!!!!

Clearly, a protection order doesn't always go far enough to protect the victim from a serial stalker. Stacey Sutera followed every legal avenue she had to keep Robert McLaughlin away from her, but in the end, it wasn't enough. Video
