Several accidents reported on I-80 EB in Mercer Co., speed limit restored

The speed limit is back to 80 miles per hour between Exit 19B (I-79 North, Erie) and the Ohio State Line

FINDLEY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WKBN) - Traveling along Interstate 80 in Mercer and Venango counties was dicey early Friday morning as several drivers slid off the road, including a tractor-trailer that jackknifed.

I-80 eastbound is reopened between Exit 15 (Route 19 - Mercer) and Exit 19A (Interstate 79 South - Pittsburgh). It was previously closed due to the tractor-trailer accident, which was just east of I-79.

The lane restriction is now lifted on I-80 westbound near mile marker 19 in Mercer County.

The speed limit is back to 80 miles per hour between Exit 19B (I-79 North, Erie) and the Ohio State Line.

All other speeds are now restored to their usual posted limits.

The Pennsylvania State Police said most of the other accidents were off the road and happened between mile markers 4 and 10.

PennDOT is continuing to treat roadways in the area and will continue until roads are clear.
