Historic Warren theater bought for possible revitalization project

Mark Marvin recently purchased the theater last week for $375,000

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) - A local developer is breathing new life to a space in Warren that's been sitting empty since the 1970s.

According to the Trumbull County Auditor's Website, Mark Marvin's Downtown Development Group LLC bought the building that used to be Robins Theatre on E. Market Street last week for $375,000.

"The city's thrilled about it," said Enzo Cantalamessa, Warren's Safety Services Director. "I think he saw the potential for it as an entertainment venue, as a hub in downtown and primarily as a draw in the downtown."

The Robins Project announced the sale. It says Marvin intends to restore the theater and have Sunrise Entertainment -- the company that runs River Rock at the Amp each summer -- manage it.

Cantalamessa says this will only help attract people downtown.

"Where the entertainment dollars goes, so goes restaurant dollars, bar dollars, tourism dollars," he said. "So it's part of a large revitalization and development plan."

WKBN is expecting to learn more about the development plans and get a tour of the space at a press conference scheduled for Feb. 6.
