Local historical group looking to continue with renovations for vets

CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) - Two homeless veterans now have homes after some abandoned apartments were renovated for them in Campbell.

At the beginning of January, volunteers were out putting down tile, painting, and working on plumbing.

Organizers of the Iron Soup Historical Preservation group said the response from the community has been overwhelming. The president said renovating an apartment is the least they can do to those who protected our country from terrorists.

"There are obviously, in today's climate, many of those wolves, that would like nothing better than to see our nation fall," Iron Soup President Timothy Sokoloff said. "And those men and women risk their lives to make sure that does not happen. We owe them a lot."

The company is not done yet.

They have enough resources to get another unit up and running but have 21 apartments total to remodel.
