Depending on their budget, some schools may provide more supplies for their students than others. But even so, there are certain items the children will almost always have to bring themselves. School supply lists may be handed out on the first day of class. In other cases, office supply and variety stores will post the list in advance, so parents can stock up before school starts. Some local newspapers will even print the information by grade. Here are some items commonly found on a school supply list: Construction paper, scissors and glue are usually requested, especially for younger kids. There's the famous 'number two' pencils, as well as crayons, a ruler, and colored pencils. A child's first crayons are usually large-sized. Later boxes are regular size, and feature more colors. Most children find it exciting when it's time to graduate to the 'big box' of crayons! Ruled tablets with widely-spaced lines are also standard for the early grades. Older children may need spiral notebooks, pocket folders, and possibly a ring binder, with dividers for different subjects. Children may also be asked to bring personal items, like Kleenex, though often, the teacher keeps these in the classroom.
