When buying a new furnace you will need to evaluate, not only the equipment and installation costs, but also the efficiency and energy costs. You need to find out whether or not it's worthwhile for you to purchase a higher-efficiency heating system which costs more but will use less energy over time. When obtaining bids, it's best that the contractors come directly to your location to provide a quote based on the actual situation. Bring to the contractors attention your current heating requirements, which may have decreased if you've added insulation or increased if you've added a room. The quote should always be in writing and should specify all labor, materials and equipment costs.
