TARENTUM, Pa. (AP) — A woman rescued from a burning duplex near Pittsburgh has been charged with setting the fire in an attempt to kill herself and two children.
Allegheny County police say 36-year-old Terra Lynn, of Tarentum, told them she poured gasoline in the house and lit it. Lynn was embroiled in a custody battle and divorce, but police aren't saying if that was a motive to set the fire early Monday morning.
Authorities say Lynn reeked of gasoline when she was treated for smoke inhalation at a hospital along with her children, a 12-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son, who were also rescued.
Lynn was jailed Tuesday after she was arraigned on arson, attempted homicide and other charges. Online court records do not list a defense attorney.
Tarentum is about 25 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
