The plans to expand V&M Star Steel in Youngstown are a step closer to becoming reality.

Thursday morning, the city's Board of Control approved plans to purchase approximately 150-acres on the north side near the mill. The land would be turned over to V&M if it goes through with plans for a multi-million dollar project, creating hundreds of jobs for the area.

Youngstown is one of four sites now being considered.

City officials tell us while the company has still not finalized its expansion plans, they hope the purchase will help Youngstown's position.
