In Youngstown Wednesday morning, a solemn tradition was renewed as veterans gathered for ceremonies downtown.
Several dozen veterans from all services and different wars came together inside the Mahoning County Courthouse rotunda for the annual Veterans Day program sponsored by the United Veterans Council.
Included in the group was nearly two dozen members of the local Marine Corps League.
Their commandant believes today's school students never learn about the real life history lessons the former service members actually lived.
"From what I understand, they don't just teach enough history is school of wars and what of these people actually sacrificed to do the things they did," Frank Sokol said.
This program featured guest speaker and Marine veteran Robert Bush, of the county prosecutor's office. It also included wreath-laying ceremonies as well as 21-gun salutes to the veterans' fallen comrades.
