Some Youngstown council members are fed up with the demolition process in the city.
Their frustrations were expressed Monday at the city's monthly Housing, Community and Economic Development meeting.
Much of the concern centers around the lack of communication between the demolition department and city council, they said. Council members are now asking for documents outlining the demolition process and a full list of what's been demolished since January of 2009.
"We know we have a uniform process, but we weren't sure where the process is breaking down," said Councilman DeMaine Kitchen, 2nd Ward. "But we all acknowledge that there is a breakdown. So, this meeting today helped find out where that breakdown is at. Hopefully in the next two weeks, we'll be up and moving again."
Demolition department officials said many factors played a part in complicating the process, including asbestos removal and whether or not the property qualifies for economic stimulus funds.
