Snow is falling over the local area as a strong winter storm brushes by to our south. Roads are seeing accumulation as driving conditions are expected to deteriorate through Friday evening.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 12 p.m. Saturday for Columbiana, Lawrence, Mahoning, Trumbull and Mercer counties. A Winter Storm Watch will remain in effect for Columbiana and Lawrence counties until 6 p.m. Saturday.
With the storm originating from the southwest and carrying moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, the heaviest local snow accumulations are expected in the southern reaches of the area.
The National Weather Service is predicting 6-12" of snow accumulation in the Winter Storm Warning area. In Mahoning, Trumbull and Mercer counties, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. on Saturday. Snow accumulations in the advisory area are predicted to be in the 4-6" range.
The worst of the storm is pounding the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic states with ice and snow measured in excess of a foot. If you have weekend travel plans south and east of our area, be advised that conditions are very hazardous.
The storm is expected to quickly taper after sunrise on Saturday, and Sunday is predicted to be largely dry.
