The Mahoning Valley Chiefs of Police Association has sent a letter to Governor Ted Strickland urging him not to grant clemency to convicted killer Jason Getsy.

The chiefs sent the letter to the governor last week.  The state parole board has recommended clemency for Getsy, who was convicted of the 1995 murder of Ann Serafino and the attempted murder of her son, Charles.  The final decision of clemency rests with the governor.

Meanwhile, petitions against clemency for Getsy are expected to be circulated around General Motor's Lordstown plant starting Friday.  Those petitions will be sent to the governor.

It is not known when the governor will rule.

Getsy's execution is set for August 18th.
