Here in Ohio the campaign season has been dominated by a proposed constitutional amendment authorizing casinos in the state's four largest cities Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Toledo, but not Youngstown. Is the issue bringing people out to the polls?

The Mahoning County Board of Elections expects voter turnout to be between 30 to 35 percent. The polls opened this morning at 6:30 a.m. Board Director Tom McCabe says they received more than 13,000 absentee ballots. That's double the amount from 2007. McCabe attributes the increase to several local and state-wide issues drawing attention. "Well I think you're going to see Issue 3, Issue 4, the renewal of the sales tax. Issue six, which is your library, which is important to voters. Then you have a lot of local issues with trustees and school board members."

Voters are reminded to bring a valid form of I.D. including a driver's license, military identification or a copy of current utility bill. Polls close at 7:30 p.m.
