Residents in Mineral Ridge enjoyed free hotdogs, face painting, and entertainment at the Mineral Ridge Community Day, held at the middle school on Route 46. The purpose of the event, sponsored by the "Rams are Best" committee, was to bring community awareness to the upcoming 8-mill bond issue for the Weathersfield School District that residents will vote on this Tuesday.
Michael Hanshaw, Weathersfield Superintendent, wants to remind voters that the bond issue is for the kids. He says, "It's for them to have a new state-of-the-art facility rather than being in a 1929 building; so that they can have state-of-the-art technology and bigger classrooms, so we're hoping for the best on Tuesday."
About 500 people showed up on Sunday to support the school system.
