Warren City School Teacher Dominic Leone remains behind bars without bond.
Warren Municipal Court Judge Terry Ivanchak sided with prosecutors Friday afternoon and ruled that Leone, who is facing a felony stalking charge, should not be released. The judge also ruled there is enough evidence to send Leone's case to the Trumbull County Grand Jury. Leone, a physical education teacher at Jefferson Elementary, is accused of stalking his former girlfriend, Laura Ware.
Ware, who did not want her face photographed, testified the two broke up in August, but Leone continued to come to her home. "Every time I would step out of my house, he was there. I would go to Giant Eagle, he was there. If I went out ot eat with my friends, he would show up," Ware testified.
Leone's attorneys, however, say they do not believe their client is guilty. "This is not really stalking, it is a vengeance," Atty. Mark Hanni said.
Prosecutors disagree and offered a notebook of Leone's as evidence. They say school officials found the notebook and gave it to Warren Police Detective Wayne Mackey. Prosecutors told the judge the notebook gives detailed information of Ware's daily activities.
Meanwhile, Leone's attorneys tell us he has been placed on paid administrative leave from the school system.
