Convicted killer Danny Lee Hill has asked a court to delay the execution of fellow death row inmate Kevin Keith, so that Keith can help prove that Hill is mentally retarded.
Hill requested that Keith's Sept. 15 execution be delayed so that Keith can testify about Hill's alleged mental disability. A statement filed with the court from Keith states that Hill has poor hygiene and is unable to play board games or cards.
A judgment entry filed in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court in 2006 found that Hill was not mentally retarded. In that entry, the judge stated Hill was well groomed.
His death row case manager also wrote that Hill plays bingo with fellow inmates. Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray's office disagrees with Hill's motion.
Hill was sentenced to death in 1986 for torturing, raping and murdering 12-year-old Raymond Fife.
