Experts in community development from all around Ohio are spending a couple days in the Mahoning Valley this week.
This is the 27th annual conference of the Community Development Association of Ohio, which is meeting at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. The program allows those involved with revitalizing their own local communities around the state to bring and share their ideas and strategies, while also showcasing some of the efforts underway in the Youngstown area.
"Community development works in a variety of ways to revive and uplift distressed communities and individuals. It's a mode or model of empowerment that has worked very well and these folks are here to learn what's going on in the Valley and learn from one another," said Nate Coffman, executive director of the Community Development Association of Ohio.
The conference runs through Thursday.
