The Youngstown/Warren Metro area registered the third highest percentage job gain among all metro areas in the U.S. over the last year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties in Ohio and Mercer County in Pennsylvania had a 2.75 percent job gain between March 2010 and March 2011 and was behind only Raleigh N.C., and Milwaukee, Wis.

When it comes to total job numbers, the area ranked 38th out of 100 during that same time with a gain of 5,900 jobs.

"This is another indicator of how the Valley's economic development efforts are yielding tangible results that are in fact transforming our economic landscape," said Walt Good, the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce vice president.
