Two people were killed in two separate crashes that happened in Trumbull County Thursday night and early Friday morning.

Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Phillip Keagy, 30, of Warren, died when the car he was riding in drove off state Route 82 just west of state Route 11 in Howland and hit an overhead sign pole around midnight.

According to police, the driver, Bobby Williams, 23, of Warren, was traveling in a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro west on state Route 82 when it drove off the right side of the road and hit the pole. Keagy was the right front passenger and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Williams is in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center, and two other passengers, Stefanie Ullom, 22, of Warren, and Monica Smith, 24, of Orwell, are in serious condition.

Troopers said speed appears to be a factor.

About a half hour later, Nicholas Lewis, 35, of Vienna, died when he drove off state Route 193 near Smith Stewart Road in Vienna and hit parked construction equipment.

Troopers said Lewis was not wearing a seat belt.

Both crashes remain under investigation.

Last night in 345 miles of driving Truck 22 cars passed me cussing me out and waving at me (not using all their fingers) and 19 wrecked within half a mile. The speed limit is set for ideal conditions. Adjust people if you want to make it home. 150 miles of Hydroplaning, 195 of snow covered black ice. Was your toilet paper that important?
