Trumbull County Commissioners are getting close to approving the county's 2012 budget, which is expected to be about the same as last year.
Auditor Adrian Biviano said he expects commissioners will approve a $42.3 million "bare bones" budget. Biviano said officials will be able to maintain services and are hopeful that no layoffs will be made.
However, he did say that if sales tax collections come in low, there could be the possibility of furlough days for some departments.
"From the county's general fund position, we take a bigger hit now in 2012 then we did in 2011 because the full cut in the local government will be felt this year. Also we lost the personal property tax reimbursement this year. When you add these two together, that is roughly $2 million," Biviano said.
Officials are expected to approve the final budget in the next few weeks.
