The Trumbull County Board of Elections Tuesday certified the results of this month's general election.
Election officials said overall voter turnout in Trumbull County was 44 percent. That's typical for an off-year election, they said.
The board reviewed the grand totals from all contests for possible recounts and found two races where the margin of victory was less than one-half percent. Those were for the Bazetta Township trustee and Southington fiscal officer races.
Automatic recounts are required, but officials don't expect the results of those races to change.
"As of today, the winners were determined through the official results. Past experience shows that our results normally do not change at all, but we have to do it by law," said Kelly Pallante, Trumbull County Board of Elections director.
The board will meet next week to complete the hand recounts. They'll also hold a special meeting to discuss other agenda items, including the board's 2010 budget request to Trumbull County commissioners.
